The new sophisticated.
How about we keep it simple; simple is the new sophisticated.
A quick question, "do you ever think about all the dishes you have to wash in you life time?".
At some point during this long holiday, following the lock down imposed, to contain the spread of the disease, Corona Virus, I had a lot to do in my head but I wasn’t making any head ways doing them. I honestly wanted to do a lot of building, variety of skills were calling me to learn them and I wanted to read relevant books too. The thought of all I wanted to do overwhelmed me and for a long time I procastinated, got depressed of the time I was wasting, almost even gave up on myself but one good thing I kept doing was reading. I subscribed to newsletters that wrote on skills, disciplines and habit.
I know how it feels it feel like you are not doing enough to meet your goals, after comparing yourself with your friends so, I’ll be sharing what I learnt from reading and practicing the newsletters I subscribed in a summary of 3 ways to keep it simple while you achieve your goals.
First things first, make sure you have a goal. It could be to learn a skill very well, develop a habit, get to know your family better, and so on.
- Declutter: this is to organize and prioritize. The truth is all you think you need is just a want and not necessarily a need. Take a pen, write down everything you want to do, cross out what you really don’t need to do. This is where prioritizing comes in, the key to productivity is removing distractions.
Make sure you focus on what’s left after you’ve removed the distraction. You will only wash the dishes in the sink at the moment and not the dishes of a life time. So wash the dish you currently have in front of you and stop being bothered by the ones of a life time. - Join a community: Accountability is necessary to fulfill goals. Though you might be good at being accountable to yourself, but doing it with a circle or a friend makes you see from the lens of another. Be a part of a community that has clear goals or make one with your friends or one friend. Keep tabs on one another as you work on your different goals.
- Don’t be so hard on yourself. It is what it is. Give time for fun, family, and yourself. Be intentional about it.
Most importantly, make sure you are better everyday. It’s the essence of life. http://email.mg2.substack.com/c/eJxVkMmOhCAQhp-mubUBxGUOHPoyr2EQSq0RgbCM8e0Hu0-TVKWS2r9fqwyrj5cMPmVSEsQJjRwGwQbKiZHCsLEbCaZpiQCHQitzLEBCmS1qldG7e6DtmejIJrUA3X_11Ag1tMvAxDhwo7lgS2s4a2dyn5lUMQhOg4RfiJd3QKzccg7p0b4e_Lua-im2NKnMKSu9N9ofNRmqJ69R2afBWnAa3fpcfHymHa1NBCWnnFLBOtbTkbKGNeHYlvM49e7Gh6DHyv8tJVE61Ju34Pf6Gfras96Q72JlnGo8isN8TeDUbMF88PNHrzdNvgJIB2eykDPET_LWpKrIW1LvGV93OvmG-gMFXn_8
I hope this helped.
